Our Work

NIIOH activates and supports the field of oral health and integrated care to move beyond a health care system that treats the symptoms of health disparities, aiming interprofessional education, policy, funding and programs at changing the structure that creates them.

We use a number of strategic levers to activate change, maintaining a shared focus on the most critical needs and issues of our stakeholders whether they are educators, clinicians, communities, policymakers, researchers or payors. This core focus helps us determine what is most needed and how to support innovative solutions to today’s oral health problems.

Our core strategies for systemic change in workforce transformation and practice provide opportunities to operationalize equity as an embedded consideration during planning, implementation and evaluation of our work.
